Bhatkal: A 22-year-old young woman, identified as Netra Mutthaiyya Gowali, tragically ended her life by hanging herself after enduring relentless harassment from an Instagram acquaintance. The heart-wrenching incident occurred on Wednesday in Kodmakki, a village on the outskirts of Bhatkal taluk, under the jurisdiction of the rural police station.

The victim, Netra Mutthaiyya Gowali, was employed at a lawyer's office.

According to reports, Netra had struck up a friendship with an individual named Govardhan Moger on Instagram, who resides in Mundali within Bhatkal taluk. Govardhan Moger allegedly demanded money from Netra and began to threaten and torment her. He purportedly warned her that he would publicly share indecent photos of her on Facebook, thereby tarnishing her reputation unless she chose to end her life for the sake of her dignity. Distraught and fearing disgrace, the young woman returned to her former residence and took the drastic step of ending her life by hanging herself.

Mutthaiyya Gowali, the father of the deceased, promptly approached the Bhatkal rural police station and registered a formal complaint against Govardhan Moger. He is urging the authorities to take stringent legal action against the accused and apprehend him.

Sub-Inspector Sridhar Naik of the rural Police Station has officially recorded the case and, following a post-mortem examination at the government hospital, returned the young woman's body to her grieving family. The police have launched a thorough investigation into the matter.
