Bhatkal: A railway employee working at Bhatkal railway station lost his life in a tragic accident on Thursday morning. The victim, identified as Sanjay Kumar Sherugar (52), was a resident of Byndoor in Udupi district, which is a neighboring taluk of Bhatkal. He was employed as a trackman in the engineering division of Konkan Railway.

According to sources, Sanjay Kumar had completed his night shift at Bhatkal railway station and was heading towards Byndoor on his bike between 7:00 AM and 7:30 AM. Near Belke Society, adjacent to National Highway 66, he lost control of his bike and fell into a roadside drain, sustaining severe injuries. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

Following the incident, a case has been registered at the Bhatkal Rural Police Station. PSI Rangaud visited the accident site, conducted an inspection, and has launched an investigation into the case.
