Training workshop on WASH operations, Jal Jeevan, and Swachh Bharat Missions held in Karwar

Karwar: A district-level training workshop on WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) operations and management was conducted at the Zilla Panchayat Hall in Karwar, in collaboration with the Rural Drinking Water (RWS) and Sanitation Department. The workshop aimed at effective implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) (Rural).

The event was inaugurated by Nagesh Raikar, Deputy Secretary (Administration) of Zilla Panchayat, by planting and watering a sapling. He emphasized the necessity of providing safe and quality drinking water to rural communities by 2030. The responsibility of implementing JJM and SBM schemes effectively at the Gram Panchayat level lies with officials at the gram, taluk, and district levels, he stated.

Jaffer Sharif Sutar, Deputy Secretary (Administration) of the Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Department, addressed the gathering via video conference from the state office, providing insights into the effective implementation of the JJM.

The event was attended by Development Department Deputy Secretary Prakash Halammanavar, Assistant Administrative Officer Sunil Naik, Executive Officers of Taluk Panchayats, Assistant Executive Engineers, Junior Engineers, Gram Panchayat Development Officers, and various officials from the RWS division, along with WASH coordinators and laboratory supervisors.
