Bhatkal: A tempo belonging to the renowned Shams English Medium School in Bhatkal caught fire, causing the front portion of the vehicle to burn completely. However, thanks to the driver’s timely action, all the children on board were safely evacuated.

According to reports, the school van was heading towards Shirali around 1:45 PM to drop off students, with approximately 12 children on board. The driver noticed smoke emanating near the engine, immediately pulled over, evacuated all the children safely, and alerted the fire brigade.

Before the fire brigade arrived, the smoke had turned into flames, and the front portion of the tempo was engulfed in fire. The fire brigade team managed to extinguish the flames and prevented the fire from spreading further.

Bhatkal rural Police Inspector Chandan Gopal and his team rushed to the scene upon receiving the information. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
