Bhatkal: Police arrested 57-year-old school headmaster Shridhar Naik following the revelation of a sexual harassment case involving a female student at a government school in Bhatkal.

The headmaster allegedly enticed a seventh-grade student with money and engaged in inappropriate behavior. When the student ceased attending school for a few days, her family inquired, leading to the disclosure of the incident by the girl. Upon learning of the matter, the family promptly confronted the headmaster at the school.

Subsequently, another female student from the same school came forward, reporting similar mistreatment by the headmaster.

Family members swiftly lodged a complaint against the teacher at the Bhatkal Town Police Station. Following the necessary procedures, the police arrested the teacher.

Town PSI Shivanand disclosed that a case has been registered against the school headmaster under the POCSO act, and the accused has been taken to the Karwar POCSO court.

The accused teacher had been transferred to Bhatkal from a government school in Kumta taluk approximately three months ago.
