Shivamogga: Karnataka School Education & Literacy Minister Madhu Bangarappa reaffirmed the state government's commitment to revise school textbooks, dismissing criticism from the BJP.

During a consultative meeting of Congress party workers at the party office on Monday, Madhu Bangarappa emphasized the need for appropriate education and the understanding of the Indian constitution at the school level. He stated that textbook revisions are necessary and not influenced by BJP's criticism.

Bangarappa criticized the BJP for their electoral loss, attributing it to poor governance and a reliance on Hindutva and divisive politics. He sarcastically advised BJP leaders to focus on retaining power in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha polls at the center, instead of fixating on the Congress-led government in Karnataka.

The minister accused BJP leaders of making comments solely for media attention. He highlighted the lack of cooperation from the Modi-led central government in implementing the Anna Bhagya scheme, which aims to provide rice to poor families. He expressed disappointment in those who harbor disdain for welfare schemes like Anna Bhagya, asserting that Karnataka ranks second in tax payments to the central government.

Furthermore, Bangarappa accused BJP leaders of misleading the public regarding the state government's five guarantees for political gain. However, he assured that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah remains dedicated to implementing beneficial schemes for the people.

Regarding his department, Bangarappa emphasized that over 40% of government employees serve in the School & Literacy Department. He acknowledged his responsibility to guide everyone towards a positive path and expressed his commitment to developing government schools on par with private institutions, a goal he believes will be achieved in the near future.
