Theft reported at a tourist spot in Kumta; thief arrested

Kumta: An untoward incident of looting the gold ornaments from a women reported near Yana, a famous tourist spot, on 10th february, Friday.

The accused has been identified as Kiran Naik (29), a resident of Hegde in Kumta. During the incident of looting, the looter tried to harass the women, a tourister from Bengaluru, to the knife edge fear and pulled away the gold necklace from her and skipped from the spot in a Pulsar bike. Observed this by the locals, immediately Informed the matter to the Kumta police.

Taking an immediate action, the police personnel stood up for a inspection at Kumta-Yana highway and stopped only the pulsar bikes passing the way. In a raid, one among them was found with informed gold ornaments, which was looted. 

The police have seized the gold, a mobile phone and a pulsar bike and have also arrested the accused Kiran Naik. The estimated price of the looted gold ornaments is more than rupees 3 lakhs.
