Bhatkal: In the taluka's Sagar Road area, a cut water pipe is causing thousands of cusecs of water to be wasted daily, flowing directly into a drain. Despite this significant loss, local authorities have yet to address the issue, leading to accusations of negligence. Residents report that the leakage has persisted for the past fifteen days, with multiple reports to the municipal authorities seemingly ignored.

The coastal region, including Bhatkal, is currently experiencing severe heat, exacerbating the local water crisis. Wells are drying up, and water levels in dams are falling, yet the response to the water wastage caused by the damaged pipe has been notably inadequate. The ongoing inaction has sparked widespread frustration among the community, with calls for the Bhatkal Municipality to take immediate action to prevent further water loss intensifying.
