Mangaluru: Women India Movement (WIM) Dakshina Kannada Zilla Samiti announced on Thursday its intention to take legal action against RSS leader Dr. Prabhakar Bhat Kalladka and the Bantwal police for serving notices to their members under Section 107 (Breach of peace) of the IPC.
Addressing the media at Patrika Bhavan, WIM State President Fatima Naseema expressed concern over the government's failure to apprehend Prabhakar, who had allegedly made derogatory statements about Muslim women and offended religious sentiments in Srirangapatna. Naseema criticized the police for issuing notices to women members planning a peaceful protest on Wednesday.
She highlighted that despite cases being filed against Prabhakar in 19 different locations, the police continued to view WIM with suspicion. Naseema expressed disappointment that neither women's commissions nor women's organizations had condemned Prabhakar for his derogatory remarks about women from the Muslim community.
The press conference, attended by Secretary Nasriya Bellare, media spokesperson Shahida Tasneem, and member Zulekha Bajpe, among others, served as a platform to voice their concerns and intentions to pursue legal action.
