Cyber fraud: ₹20 Lakh stolen from Belke Gram Panchayat president’s bank account

Bhatkal: A case of cyber fraud has been registered at Bhatkal Rural Police Station after unknown hackers illegally accessed the Canara Bank account of Jagadish Lachmayya Naik, President of Belke Gram Panchayat and a businessman, and transferred over ₹20 lakh to another account.

In his complaint, Jagadish stated that between February 8 and February 9 at 8:20 AM, unidentified fraudsters hacked his Canara Bank account and transferred ₹20,21,452 to an unknown account.

Following the complaint, the police have launched an investigation under the leadership of CPI Chandan Gopal. It is suspected that the hackers might have operated from a foreign location. Police, in coordination with Canara Bank officials, are working to trace the details of the recipient account.

Further investigations are underway.
