Dharwad: Lokayukta Inspector burnt alive after car hits median and catches fire

Dharwad: In a tragic incident near Bhadrapur on the Gadag–Hubballi road in Annigeri taluk, a Lokayukta Police Inspector, Panchakshari Salimath, was burnt alive after his car rammed into a road divider on Friday night.

According to police, the accident occurred at around 9 pm when the 40-year-old officer, who was serving as a Lokayukta Inspector in Haveri, was driving his i20 car towards his home in Gadag. While on the way, he reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which then crashed into the median on the national highway.

The impact was so severe that the car immediately caught fire. By the time the fire brigade personnel reached the spot, the vehicle had been completely gutted, and Inspector Salimath was charred to death inside the car.

The incident, which occurred under the jurisdiction of the Annigeri Police Station, has left the local community in shock. Police have registered a case and initiated further investigation.
