Mysuru: The existing security arrangements at all major railway stations across South Western Railway have been tightened following information from credible sources of the activities of insurgents and terrorists.
A release issued by the SWR Headquarters in Hubballi said apart from all major railway stations, vulnerable points and vital installations are being secured and strengthened. “Special teams have been formed for guarding and patrolling of tracks at vulnerable sections and sabotage-prone areas across SWR,” the release added. The authorities have also deployed drones — a first in the history of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Indian Railways — for patrolling and surveillance in remote and vulnerable areas.
