Poet’s meet and interaction programme held in Karwar

Karwar: Poet’s meet and interaction programme organized by Kannada and Culture Department and Kannada Sahitya Parishat’s Karwar taluk unit, held in Karwar on Friday.

Expressing his views, Poet B A Sanadi said that poets should mingle with people to broaden their horizon and gain experience. Kannada language and literature are like a big banyan tree, and will never vanish, he added.

Sanadi told that, electronic media and mobile phones are to be blamed for youth staying away from literature, he concern worried on dwindling interest among youth in reading books, particularly, poems. He suggested that more and more number of poet’s meet and programmes related to literature should be held to attract youth. Getting to hear poems from poets would bring more joy compared to reading them from books. Poets and writers should endeavor to bring more harmony in society, he said.

He warned thath if efforts are not made today to increase popularity of poems and books, there would not be any readers left after 20 years. “The love for literature should be developed from childhood itself,” he suggested.

People are more restless today because of vitiated political atmosphere. Intellectuals, poets, and writers are making own efforts to remove this vitiated atmosphere. Society needs to be reformed with help of literature, he said.

Karwar Assistant Commissioner Shivanand Karale gave inaugrual speech, Karwar Taluka Kannada Sahitya Parishad president Nagraj Harpanhalli delivered Introductory speech, Government Arts and Science college principal Dr. Kalpana Kervadikar presided interaction program. Dr. Venktesh Giri proposed vote of thanks, Uday Bargi introduced the poet Sanadi, while Dr. Zameerulla Sharif was presided over poet's meet program.

Ganesh Hegde hosamane, Nagrekha Gaonkar, Gayatri Raghvendra Bettakoppa, Gangadhar Naik Bhatkal, Shridhar Bhat Shirali, Akshata Krishnamurthi, Reshma Umesh Mundalli, Dr. Govind Hegde, Subraya Bidramane, Nagraj Huded, Sachin Ankola, Nivedita Kulanbkar, TMR Prema, Sukanya Desai, Nagapati Hegde, Krishnanand Bandekar, Shobha Nayak were present.
