Lucknow: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, addressing a poll rally in Sonbhadra on Wednesday, claimed that if the BJP retains power at the Centre, it will introduce a law similar to the repealed farm laws to 'snatch the lands of farmers'.
Yadav was campaigning for SP candidate Chhotelal Kharwar from the Robertsganj Lok Sabha seat. He promised that if the INDIA bloc forms the government at the Centre, it would waive all loans of farmers and provide 'record' employment.
Yadav criticized BJP leaders, saying they are the same people who introduced the 'black' farm laws aimed at taking away farmers' lands. He noted that these laws were repealed only after farmers united in protest. "The black laws have been repealed but we need to remain alert. If they come back to power, they will bring a similar law to encroach the land of farmers and adivasis," Yadav warned. He also accused the Modi government of exploiting farmers by making urea fertilizers more expensive.
In his speech, Yadav claimed the BJP-led Centre 'deliberately' leaks question papers of recruitment exams, causing hardships for the youth. He highlighted that youths travel far for these exams only to find out later that the papers have been leaked. "I want to assure the youngsters that if they (BJP) have made a record of not giving employment and snatching jobs, we will make a record of giving jobs if the INDIA alliance government is formed," he asserted.
Yadav reiterated the promise of scrapping the Agniveer scheme if the opposition alliance is voted to power. He also promised that if the INDIA bloc forms the government, the poor would receive free flour and mobile data.
"This election is about saving our future. At the same time, this election is also about saving the Constitution, which gives us respect, which protects our rights," Yadav emphasized.
He criticized the BJP-led Centre for rising inflation and the resulting income disparity. "When the prime minister was asked about income disparity in the country's economy, he asked in return if he should make all the poor rich," Yadav remarked.
Robertsganj will go to polls in the last phase of the Lok Sabha elections on June 1.
