Bhatkal: Following the confirmation of the Ramazan moon's sighting, Bhatkal's Qazis have announced that fasting will begin from Tuesday, with special Taraweeh prayers scheduled for tonight after the Isha namaz.
The moon was sighted in Shiroor, approximately 12 km from Bhatkal, in the Udupi district. Additionally, moon sightings were reported in Nagoor, Ankola, and several other locales. Consequently, Ramazan has been officially declared in a broad swathe of areas including Honnavar, Kumta, Ankola, Karwar, Sirsi, Hubli, Byndoor, Kundapur, Udupi, Mangalore, Bengaluru and extending to other states such as Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, etc.
Notably, this year marks a unified commencement of Ramazan across India, with fasting set to begin tomorrow, Tuesday, nationwide.
It is important to note that fasting during Ramazan is considered one of the 'Five Pillars' of Islam, observed from dawn till sunset. This period is dedicated to spiritual reflection, self-discipline, and enhanced devotion through worship and charitable acts.
Mosques have arranged for the special nightly prayers, known as Taraweeh, integral to this holy month. These prayers, conducted after the Isha Namaz, involve reciting the entire Quran over the course of Ramadan's 29 or 30 days.
